Dreamland Connect Modernises GBHS Bamenda Classrooms With Foldable Teaching Boards

The Folded Board

Dreamland Connect Plc, a conglomerate that is becoming a household name in the North West Region and beyond because of its innovative approach in service delivery has done it again. After renovating and delivering classrooms and additional infrastructure in Government Bilingual High School, GBHS, Bamenda Campus C, ahead of time, Dreamland Connect has equipped the classrooms with 27 modern foldable green boards.

The new boards have been installed in each of the 27 renovated classrooms as part of the rehabilitation programme carried out under the Programme for Reconstruction and Development of the North-West and South-West Regions (PPRD), implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) with financial support from the Islamic Development Bank.

Unlike the traditional fixed blackboards commonly used in many schools, the new green boards can be folded open to provide teachers with more writing space. This allows teachers to keep information from an earlier part of a lesson visible while adding new points. The green surface is also expected to make writing easier for students to see. The colour can reduce glare and reflection, while providing better contrast between the writing and the board.

This could be particularly useful for students sitting at different points in the classroom, as clearer writing and reduced reflection can make it easier to follow lessons.

The new boards are part of a wider transformation of GBHS Bamenda Campus C. The rehabilitation covered 27 classrooms across Blocks A to G and included improvements such as sanitation facilities, paved walkways, a dining shed, security and discipline facilities, retaining walls and fencing.

The installation of the boards was made possible through the rehabilitation works executed by Dreamland Connect PLC.

Speaking during the provisional reception of the rehabilitation works, Dreamland Connect Chief Executive Officer Edison Fru Ndi said the company was determined to deliver work beyond expectations while expressing appreciation to UNDP for supporting local solutions to local challenges.

The new boards will now have to prove their usefulness in everyday classroom teaching, where teachers use them to write, explain lessons and engage students.

For GBHS Bamenda, the foldable green boards add another practical feature to the wider rehabilitation of the school. Beyond the renovated buildings and improved facilities, the project is also introducing changes to some of the basic tools used in teaching.
