Sir Nico Halle, Prof. Dze-Ngwa Synergise For Justice, Peace Building In Cameroon

by Lucas Chefor

Internationally acclaimed Peace Crusader, Dr Sir Ntumfor Nico Halle and refined historian cum Peace Builder, Prof. Willibroad Dze-Ngwa have synergised to promote the rule of law, justice and peace building, universally considered as necessary pre-requisites for just societies. Their discussion on palpable ways and means of strengthening peace development and achieving reconciliation in Cameroon was the high-point of a meeting a in Douala Monday, March 16, 2026.

The meeting took place at the newly inaugurated Nico Halle Award Gallery, a “museum of integrity” housing over 204 national and international honours which the renowned lawyer, Barrister Nico Halle has won.

What began as a courtesy visit quickly transformed into a profound dialogue on peace-building, moral decadence, and a “message from the beyond.”

The atmosphere was charged with emotion as Barrister Nico Halle shared a centerpiece of the visit. He talked about a spiritual tribute from his late mother, Mama Esther Halle, who passed away 15 years ago.

On his recent birthday, a prophetic message attributed to her was delivered to him via church elders. “Son, Nico Halle, stand firm in truth. Walk humbly in faith, and let integrity guide every step you take,” the message read.

For Ntumfor Nico Halle, this was more than a memory. He noted that: “There can be any other gift,” adding that his mother “… imbued in me the strength to mount all obstacles. This gallery does not belong to me; it belongs to Cameroon, to Africa, and to the world”.

Prof. Dze-Ngwa, a renowned historian and conflict resolution expert, led a five-man delegation from Yaounde to study the gallery. He described the experience as a “sobering” encounter with a man he considers a “household name in peace-building.”

“I am blessed to be here,” Prof. Dze-Ngwa stated. “Barrister Halle is not only an inspiration; he is the man who inspired me to become a foot soldier for peace. We are here so that we may leave as ambassadors of his vision. There is no reason for conflict; we must make our minds fertile ground for the peace he preaches.”

Dze-Ngwa also issued a call to action for the state, noting that while the world recognizes Halle’s efforts, local authorities should more formally acknowledge his decades of “crusading in the nooks and crannies of this country”.

Despite being cited as one of the most awarded individuals globally, Dr Barrister Nico Halle remains grounded, warning that the path of a peace crusader is fraught with danger.

“Peace crusading is a very expensive mission,” he explained, adding that: “When you fight corruption and moral decadence, you run a big risk because the majority of society is corrupt to the marrow. You create enemies because some people take advantage of chaos to make ‘brisk money'”.

Reflecting on global instability and recent international conflicts, Halle lamented the lack of brotherly love in modern leadership. “The day there is love in the world, you will not manufacture weapons because they will be of no use,” he stated.

It should be noted here that, Nico Halle Gallery was dedicated by a college of pastors in December 2025, is currently open to the public free of charge.

While Halle noted that such institutions in the West often charge for entry, he wants the Cameroonian youth to access the inspiration for free.

High-level visits are expected to continue, with several government ministers scheduled to tour the gallery later this month. Going by Dr Nico Halle, the mission remains clear: “I will only stop crusading for peace and fighting corruption when I stop breathing.”
