Dame Sarah Mullally, the Archbishop of Canterbury, received a hilarious welcome to Cameroon as she touched down at the Nsimalen International Airport on Friday, April 31, 2026 aboard ASKY Airlines Flight KP64. Archbishop Sarah Mullally, who is the 106th holder of the office and the first woman to lead the Church of England is on an official pastoral visit to Cameroon.
On hand to receive Dame Sarah Mullally to Cameroon were, Atanga Nji Paul, Cameroon’s Minister of Territorial Administration, H.E. Matt Woods, the British High Commissioner to Cameroon and the Central African Republic, Bishop Dibo Thomas-Babyngton Elango of the Anglican Church in Cameroon; and other government and church officials.
After her landing and receiving all protocol attributes of her rank, she was ushered into the VIP Lounge of the Nsimalen International Airport where she was briefed by Minister Atanga Nji Paul on her visit schedules to Cameroon.
In a quick appreciation to the media, the Head of the Anglican Church, Archbishop Sarah Mullally, said she sincerely appreciated the people and Government of Cameroon for the warm welcome she received. She added that it was a unique privilege to be in the Cameroon. She intimated that her pastoral visit would focus on praying and worshipping with the Anglican Church. In this wise, she encouraged all the members of the Anglican Church in Cameroon and other Cameroonians to be prayerful in a bid to strengthen their ministry in the country.
According to the official programme made public, the Archbishop of Canterbury visits Yaounde in the Centre Region, Douala in the Littoral Region, Buea and Limbe in the South West Region, where she officially took part in religious and community activities.
On Saturday, August 1, 2026, Minister Atanga Nji Paul accompanied Dame Sarah Mullally to the Nsimalen International Airport where she boarded a plane to Douala. After her Douala lap, she travelled to Buea and Limbe in the South West Region. Apart from holding religious outreaches in the South West Region, she visited the BIAKA Foundation and met local authorities. She then travelled to Limbe for a meeting with the Anglican Church leaders there before returning to Douala. The visit continued on Sunday, August 2, 2026 in Douala, where the Archbishop led and participated in worship activities, visited St. Michael’s Cathedral and Emmanuel Parish at Omnisports, and attended a cultural evening with members of the Anglican community.
On Monday, August 3, 2026, she returned to Yaoundé for a series of official audiences with the Prime Minister, Ministries of External Relations, Territorial Administration, Women’s Empowerment and the Family, and that of Social Affairs. She visited some an Anglican Institution in Yegassi, situated in the outskirts of Yaounde. The pastoral visit is expected to end on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 with a meeting with Anglican clergies, and a dinner offered to her by the Government of Cameroon. She is also expected to pay a courtesy visit to the Presidency of the Republic before her departure from Cameroon.
