Funded by the African Development Bank (ADB), road construction works on the Ndu–Binka–Nkambe stretch of the Ring Road have reached a significant milestone, with asphalt now covering the 31‑kilometer section under contract execution by MAG SARL. This achievement marks a turning point in the long‑awaited project, which promises to transform mobility and economic activity across the region.
Over the weekend, the National Development Network (NDN) led a sensitization campaign in Mbiyeh–Talla, engaging residents on issues critical to both road use and community well‑being. The initiative emphasized road safety, health and sanitation, environmental protection, illegal logging, and the safeguarding of national patrimony. By linking infrastructure development with social awareness, the campaign underscored that sustainable progress requires both physical construction and informed citizen participation.
Peer educators moved door‑to‑door, holding direct conversations with households to ensure messages reached every corner of the community. In parallel, another team offered free HIV/AIDS screening, reinforcing the connection between public health and development. This dual approach highlighted the holistic vision of the campaign: safer roads must go hand in hand with healthier communities.
Residents expressed appreciation for the quality of work delivered by MAG SARL, describing the road as a lifeline that will ease movement, reduce travel time, and open new opportunities for trade and education. Many echoed the sentiment that “where the road passes, development follows,” pointing to the anticipated boost in local markets, access to services, and regional integration.
The sensitization drive also addressed environmental concerns, warning against practices such as illegal logging that undermine both ecological balance and the long‑term benefits of infrastructure. By framing road construction as part of a broader development agenda, the campaign encouraged citizens to see themselves as custodians of both the road and the environment it traverses.
As the Ring Road project advances, the Mbiyeh–Talla sensitization stands as a reminder that development is not only about asphalt and machinery, but also about people, awareness, and responsibility. With continued collaboration between contractors, development partners, and communities, the Ring Road is poised to become more than a transport corridor — it is set to be a pathway to sustainable growth and shared prosperity.
