Road Safety, Health Campaign Accelerates In Nkambe

by Lucas Chefor

The African Development Bank and Cameroon’s Ministry of Public Works, in collaboration with MAG SARL, have rolled out a crucial sensitization drive along the Ring Road in Nkambe. The initiative is equipping communities bordering this vital highway with knowledge on road safety, public health, and environmental protection.

Led by the Cameroon Development Network and the Yodo/GLFx team, the campaign reached schools, commercial motorbike riders, and drivers in Nkambe town, offering practical lessons on responsible road use and community well-being. Pupils and students learned the importance of observing safety rules, while riders and drivers were cautioned against reckless speeding and reminded of their duty to safeguard national road infrastructure.

The program extended beyond traffic concerns, tackling pressing community issues such as sustainable waste management, pollution control, and the dangers of illegal logging. Recognizing the link between mobility and public health, participants also received education on preventing HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections.

This holistic approach to development blends infrastructure protection, environmental stewardship, and health awareness. By engaging diverse groups—from young learners to transport operators—the campaign ensures that the benefits of the Ring Road are preserved for future generations, while fostering safer, healthier, and more resilient communities in Nkambe and beyond.
