General Sékouba Konaté Applauds Organisation Of Cameroon’s 2025 Presidential Polls

General Sékouba Konaté, former Transitional President of Guinea, who is also former High Representative of the African Standby Force has congratulated Cameroon’s authorities for the organisation of the October 12, 2025 Presidential polls. He made the remark on Wednesday October 15, 2025 at a press briefing in Hilton Hotel, Yaounde, Cameroon. General Sékouba Konaté led a total of 35 international observers from 11 countries for the October 12, 2025 presidential elections in Cameroon. He said they were observers of a joint mission of Nouvelle Perspective Suisse and Nouvelle Perspective Cameroon and deployed observers to five regions of the country who observed voting in 1340 polling stations.

General Konaté stated that their observations were conducted in accordance with international principles of democratic elections and Cameroonian electoral law. He said they observed with satisfaction that electoral material was available in sufficient quantity and 65% of polling stations were accessible to people with reduced mobility. The head of the observer mission affirmed that the elections were largely peaceful with a high participation of women and youth. He congratulated the professionalism of the forces of law and order who were very discreet at polling stations. The leader of the observer team affirmed that counting in polling stations they observed were done in the presence of representatives of political parties present in the area.

While recommending that polling stations should be made more accessible to people with reduced mobility, and that the operational capacity of electoral officials should be reinforced, General Konaté promised that his mission will closely monitor the announcement and validation of results by relevant institutions.
