On the high instructions from President Paul Biya, Head of State, Atanga Nj Paul Minister of Territorial Administration elevated the Rt Honourable Cavayé Yéguié Djibril, to a First Class traditional ruler. Th Rt Hon Cavayé who has been the Lamido of Mada, in Tokombere subdivision of the Far North Region, as a second class chief for 54 years after he succeeded his father is now entitled to all the state advantages accorded to a First class chief, following the reclassification. While declaring him a First Class Chief, Minister Atanga Nji said it is in recognition for his loyalty to the state and a mark of honour for his profound works at the helm of cultural and state institutions, particularly in terms of peacekeeping, local development, collaboration with the administration, and the preservation of customs “a beautiful and just reward, an example of loyalty to a statesman who has served the Head of State without the slightest calculation” noted the Minister who performed the reclassification rite on behalf of the President of the Republic of Cameroon. The reclassified chief resonated with cheerfulness, pledging continues loyalty to the state
“This is a call for me to be more engaged in my role as a contributor to local development. I accept this rank with humility and promise to serve with loyalty, respecting the customs and the law. On the eve of the elections, the Far North takes the commitment to vote 99.99% for Paul Biya” the Right Honorable Cavaye Yeguie Djibril said.
This was followed by a congratulatory statement from the President of the Council of Traditional Rulers, HRM Guy Tsala Ndzomo who also paid respect to the newly crowned first class chief.
