Biya’s Re-election Campaign Launched In His Absence Pulls Crowds Nationwide

by Lucas Chefor

Campaigns for the re-election of Paul Biya, the flag bearer of the ruling Cameroon Peoples Democratic Movement, CPDM, for the October 12, 2025 Presidential election were launched on Saturday, September 27, 2025. All other 11 candidates challenging incumbent Paul Biya for the October 12, 2025 Presidential Election personally launched their campaigns in some cities of the nation, but incumbent Paul Biya was absent at the launching of campaigns for his re-election. Prior to the official launch of the campaigns, on Saturday September 27, 2025 as stipulated by the electoral code, Paul Biya shuttled out of the country on Sunday September 21, 2025 for short private visit to Europe.

In spite of being away, incumbent Biya’s campaign launching pulled crowds nationwide as CPDM militants and his supporters trooped to launching grounds to sell the virtues of the CPDM candidate, Paul Biya. Across the national triangle, CPDM campaign leaders, militants and chief launchers extolled the achievements of Paul Biya, calling on militants and Cameroonians at large to give him another mandate.

In the restive North West and South West Regions, CPDM campaign chief launchers threw flowers on Paul Biya as the architect of development. In Bamenda, former PM, Philemon Yang, stated that only Paul Biya can lead Cameroon into the future as he has experience and the love of the nation at heart. Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute, Prime Minister, Head of Government told the population of the South West Region that the region has enjoyed succinct development thanks to President Paul Biya, and that should Paul Biya not emerge as winner of the October 12 polls, the region could cease to enjoy the privileges and development it is currently enjoying. He laid to rest rumours that the National Oil Refinery, SONARA, will move out of the South West Region. He pointed at reconstruction works as proof that it will not. Chief Dr. Dion Ngute said other huge developmental works are underway like the Limbe Deep Seaport, the construction of the Bekoko-Idenau road and the development of the Tiko Airport.

It is worthy to recall that incumbent Paul Biya is seeking for an eighth mandate and his militants and supporters nationwide are hammering on his experience as reason for his re-election. His other 11 opposition challengers have been unable to settle for a consensus opposition candidate, thus paving the way for Biya’ re-election, as the ruling CPDM is rooted nationwide.
